Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to be held at Conference Centre
After several months of deliberations by various key players in the entertainment industry over venue for the 14th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA),NEWS-ONE can confirm that the event will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Early this year, managers of the Dome, which happens to be the major entertainment facility in Ghana, said they were shutting the place down for renovation.
The Accra International Conference Centre has a seating capacity of about 2000 and the Dome can accommodate over 5000 people, which clearly shows that this year, Charter House will be selling tickets to just a few Ghanaians who will want to witness the music festival.
“This is the only suitable venue we have available now so we will just make use of it.
We will just make use of the number of audience the Conference Centre can take,” Irene Boakye Danquah from the communications department of Charter House told NEWS-ONE.
As regards the various controversies surrounding this year’s nominations, she stated that Charter House had a competent board which was responsible for shortlisting Ghanaian artistes for the various categories after their managers had filed their application.
“You will bear with us that it is a human institution and the awards get better by the year.
Every year, Charter House tries to improve upon the event,” she noted.
According to Irene, a few changes had been made in the producer of the year category.
Nicholas Omane Acheampong of ‘Zaphenath-Paneah’ fame has been replaced with Kwadwo Akwaboah who happens to be the true producer of the song.
