Emma Nyra: A Star On The Rise
The product of Nigerian parents, born in Texas, songstress Emma Nyra shot into the spotlight when she was linked to kukere star Iyanya featuring on his Second official single, Ur Waist, off his newly released Desire Album.
The beauty is a musician in her own right, but Nigeria started paying attention when she met Iyanya through Ubi Franklin, one of the owners of her label Made Men Music Group. She also gained notoriety after featuring on his Ur Waist music video directed by Clarence Peters, and appearing in two Nollywood USA films, Rebound and Keep My Dream.
She has stated that she was a born musician, composing original pieces with her siblings when she was still a small child. Her first professional show was in 2009 when she opened for P-Square in Texas.
Emma Nyra decided she wanted to return to Nigeria to launch her career back in 2011, and eventually returned in March 2012.
In a recent interview Emma said she wants to be part of a strong female Nigerian movement in music, “I want everyone to know that the females in Nigeria are not sleeping, we can come very hard.” In the same interview she said that audiences must know there is more in store for her and she expects to win awards.
She has promised more interesting collaborations in the near feature with the likes of General Pype, Durella, Iceberg Slim and more. Her final message to her fans is to keep an eye out “there are exciting things coming”. Her singles entitled Ori Mi Wu and Everything I Do have videos out now directed by Mr Moe Musa.
