FIFA’s president cleared by ethics commitee
The ethics committee of FIFA has cleared the president of the association, Gianni Infantino, of any breach of ethics.
This follows an investigation into his expenses, recruitment and alleged sacking of some whistleblowers.
According to the committee, it found no ‘conflicts of interests’ and that the benefits that are enjoyed by Infantino are ‘not considered improper.’
“After conducting both preliminary and formal investigation proceedings, the investigatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has decided to conclude its investigations concerning FIFA President Gianni Infantino. It was found that no violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics had been committed,” the committee said in a statement.
Gianni Infantino took over from Sepp Blatter in February as FIFA president.
