The teaser for Leila Djansi’s ‘Like Cotton Twines’ has been released.
The film was first screened at the 20th Urbanworld Film Festival in New York.
Like Cotton Twines was shot in a small village in Ghana. The film is a socially provoking drama that touches on modern day slavery and racism.
It revolves around a 14-year-old Ghanaian JSS female student and an enthusiastic American teacher who volunteers to teach in the Ghanaian village.
The girl, whose name is Tuifi, must become Trokosi – a slave to the gods – as a punishment to atone for her father’s crime. According to religious beliefs, Tuigi must abandon school and be offered as a sex slave.
