Ark Foundation’s Angela Dwamena-Aboagye to speak at YAWC 2016


The 2016 Young African Women Congress is scheduled to take place on December 18 to 22 in Accra.

One of the speakers at the congress will be Angela Dwamena-Aboagye, who is the Executive Direct of the Ark Foundation and is a lecturer at the University of Ghana Law School.


She has won a number of national awards for her work in promoting women’s empowerment including the Millennium Excellence Award in 2010. She recently won the Micah Award from the organisation, Christians for Biblical Equality in Los Angeles, USA in July 2015. She is an honorary recipient of Excellence Leadership Award (ExLA Award) for Women Empowerment/ Model Woman in October 2015.

The Young African Women Congress (YAWC) is a programme under the direct supervision of the ExLA Group Gender Programme (EGGP).

The programme seeks to broaden the scope of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG Goal 3) which emphasised Women’s Empowerment as indicative of the proportion of seats held by women in parliament.
