Poetra Asantewa brings us ‘Drum Roll, Please’
Talented Ghanaian poet, Poetra Asantewa, will be bringing Ghanaians an event which has been dubbed, ‘Drum Roll, Please.’
Poetra has stated that she will be supported by ace spoken word artist, 100% and the soulful singer, Cina Soul.
The event will take place on December 1, 2016, at the Legon Drama Studio.
‘Drum Roll, Please’ has been described as a dialogue between voice and drums.
“It’s a poetry show that skillfully combines drums and poetry and music, borrowing elements from hip-hop and the traditional way of sending messages through drums,” Poetra told Citi Showbiz.
The talented creative artist was declared a OneBeat Fellow in August this year. OneBeat is a network of leading artistic, technological, and social innovators in music. It was set up by the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the New York-based music organisation Bang.
“I learnt a great deal from my tour in the states, one being the various ways in which different elements of music can be fused together. And Drum roll, please is my first show after the tour and last show of the year to display this,” Poetra added.
Those who will be attending the will surely be riveted in their seats. They will surely have a great night to enjoy poetry in an unconventional way.
Tickets for the event go for GHc30.
