Disney reveals new characters for Cars 3
Disney has released three new videos to highlight some of the returning and new characters that will make appearances in Cars 3.
The first trailer for Cars 3 was released in November and it showed Lightning McQueen wrecking on the racetrack.
Brian Fee, the director of the Franchise, told Entertainment Weekly that McQueen is now in the middle of his life and isn’t a hotshot anymore.
McQueen is not the hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age,” he said.
“He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”
One of the new characters, Cruz Ramirez, is described as a lifelong fan of Lightning McQueen. She joins the team as a coach. Cruz Ramirez will be voiced by Cristela Alonzo.
Another new character is a technologically advanced, arrogant young car who is called Jackson Storm. This character is voiced by Armie Hammer.
Cars 3 will debut in theatres on June 16, 2017.
