Facebook introduces new Fundraising feature
Facebook will soon allow users to raise money on behalf of themselves and others, as a way to help cover the cost of medical bills, tuition, and other things.
The ‘personal fundraiser’ feature will be rolling out in the next few weeks to users in the US who are 18 and above. Those with access will be able to set up a dedicated Facebook page with information about the Fundraiser, where they can pick a donation goal and money through the site.
Facebook says that it will only allow fundraisers to cover just six things: education expenses, medical bills, pets’ medical bills, crisis and disaster relief, personal emergencies, and assistance for families after death. New categories may be added in future.
